Pleasure Versus Happiness
Pleasure is fleeting and involves external stimulation; sustained happiness comes from within and is expressed externally.

Pleasure can sometimes undermine happiness. Such as the temporary pleasure some derive from illicit drugs, drinking or debauchery.
I don't consider these pleasures gifts.
Other pleasures, the taste of a piece of ripe fruit, the enjoyment of of a summer day, sex in a loving relationship are gifts and add to happiness, temporarily. Still, these pleasures are derived from sensory stimulation, which is external.
Sustained happiness comes from knowing yourself, being yourself and living your passion. Happiness is internally driven but externally expressed.
